12 The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ.13 For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body–whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free–and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.
14 Now the body is not made up of one part but of many.15 If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body.16 And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body.17 If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be?18 But in fact God has arranged the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be.
1 Corinthians 12: 14-18 NIV
This is such a familiar passage of Scripture. I have been reflecting on it for the last few days. Earlier in the week, I had a conversation with a friend by which she shared with me that another friend was wanting that she live & do things differently with her life. She was left feeling that she was not valuable or doing things correctly. I disagreed with her other friend.
The above Scriptures tell me several important things:
- God created each of us to be who we are.
- That being said, no one can take our place. We are it.
- Each of us have unique gifts and talents that God deposited into our lives to be used as an offering to those around us.
- Because we are unique, each of us are incredibly valuable to God.
- We all fit into God’s plan like a puzzle.
I need you.
You need me.
God needs us both.
So, be who God created you to be as there is & only will be – one you!
