I’m joining Kate Motaung for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt. Five minutes. No editing. Lots of women. All of us writing on that same word.
Today the word prompt is … Blue.
I see the prompt this morning and only one thing comes to mind:
Something old, something new,
Something borrowed, something blue,
And a silver sixpence in her shoe.
I remember scrambling to come up with an idea for each one. So funny this is where my thoughts would turn. I remember reading one time the “something blue” was to represent purity, love, and fidelity.
Sitting here with my coffee and the stillness of the morning, I realize there is only One Whose love is pure and faithful. I find myself humming this old song {{how does our minds pull these things back up?}} –

Never ending. Spanning all time.
His same love which loves me has loved those before me and will continue to love my children and grandchildren long after I am gone from this earth.
Perhaps that is why He painted the expanse of the sky and the oceans deep in shades of blue. Did He intend them to be a reminder of His love which is pure and faithful and eternal?
“The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.” (Lamentations 3:22-23, NLT)
When I am feeling “blue” may I remember ….
He loves me with a love that is pure, faithful and never ending.
Today I am joining … Five Minute Friday and Faith Filled Friday and Dance With Jesus and Fellowship Friday and Grace & Truth and Faith & Fellowship .
One can never feel blue when thinking of God’s love 🙂
Colline, so true!
How precious to my heart is the reminder that Jesus loves me with a love that is pure and faithful and never ending. Even when human loves fails, His love never fails. Thank you for this beautiful post. Stopping in from #fmfparty.
Leah, that is the thing … may we hold onto this truth, reminding ourselves of this when human love fails. May we give no room for the enemy’s lie that we are unloved. May you have a wonderful weekend!
I loved that old song! Thanks for your thoughts on blue this morning. Happy to be your neighbor at Faith and Fellowship.
Michele, I am always amazed at how an old song stays in the recesses of our minds waiting to be “played” once again 🙂 Have a great weekend!
Perfect. I wonder about my mind’s wandering all the time, too (hmm…do I wonder all the time or does my mind wander all the time…) You made me smile and put me at ease as well. Nice. I’m glad I stopped by from FMF. Janet
Janet, you made me smile this morning! So glad our minds sound alike. May you enjoy your weekend!
Beautiful post! “Perhaps that is why He painted the expanse of the sky and the oceans deep in shades of blue. Did He intend them to be a reminder of His love which is pure and faithful and eternal?” I LOVE this! I want to remember this whenever I look at the sky or sea. I have plenty of opportunities since I live on a tiny island. 🙂
Blessings,
Elizabeth

Elizabeth, I love that you live on a tiny island! This reminder is before you every day 🙂 Blessings!
THIS: “He loves me with a love that is pure, faithful and never ending.” YES! I’m a little surprised more of us didn’t think of “something borrowed, something blue.” Great post! Visiting from the linkup. I’m #6.
Tara, I am always amazed at how the same one word prompt sends us all in varied directions. It’s the beauty to be found in this linkup each week!
As look at the sky so blue and the ocean’s waters, I pray I remember your words and see them as a “reminder of His love which is pure and faithful and eternal.” #DanceWithJesus, Joanne. : )
Crystal, I want to remember my words as well this summer as I see the water’s edge. Grateful to join you each week!
Oh, I LOVE that thought! He created so much blue in our world because he wants us to always have a visual on his love, faithfulness and care for us!
And some of us {me!} need the visuals 🙂
Beautiful!
I love the colour blue too. It always lifts my heart.
Funny thing is … blue really is my favorite color.
I love your thoughts on the blue of the sky: “Perhaps that is why He painted the expanse of the sky and the oceans deep in shades of blue.” BTW your photo is so sweet. You look so kind-hearted. Every time I see it on one of these link-ups, it warms my heart! Blessings from Espressos of Faith via #ChristianMommyBlogger!
Bonnie, thank you for your encouragement and your kind words. I pray that God always works on my heart so that I am kind-hearted to those I meet. Have a wonderful weekend!
This is wonderful, Joanne! What a beautiful direction you took with “blue.” And I’m going to bed tonight singing that song…reminding myself of His faithfulness and his new mercies that begin again tomorrow.
Jennifer, it is so true. We need to remind ourselves at the day’s end that His mercies begin again when our feet hit the floor. So amazing!
