Our family has been blessed to enjoy the relationships of four generations – my mom, then me, my daughter, and now my granddaughters. Mom has led us well and I am not sure she even knew she was doing so. In her unassuming manner, she demonstrated strength, dignity, love, and loyalty constantly.
It was mom who years ago, began “inviting” us to conferences so we could have a weekend away, ” a girls’ weekend”. In so doing, she instilled a love for God, for worship, for God’s Word, and for relationship with one another.
Jocelyn recently was sick. A couple of trips to the pediatrician, two different rounds of antibiotic and sleepless nights only grew in her a need to be comforted. And take comfort she did! All she wanted was to be with her sister, snuggling with her, which actually means being atop of her with bodies meld together.
As I looked at the photo sent to me, I realized the preciousness of relationships. There’s something about being with the people you love that warms our hearts, bringing a sense of being home and connected.
“This is a day to remember. Each year, from generation to generation, you must celebrate it as a special festival to the Lord. This is a law for all time.” (Exodus 12:14, NLT)
God knew the importance of each generation. Each one vital to the life of the other. And so today I pray …
Dear Lord, bless the home of my granddaughters. May the relationships they have with each other, and with their parents, bring them health and grow them in their faith. May their home always be a place which reflects You, Your love, Your grace, Your mercy and be filled with Your peace. Guide their parents in the truth of Your Word so that they may guide each of my granddaughters in Your ways. May they grow to be girls and women who are strong in their beliefs and filled with a love for You and toward those around them. In Your name I pray, amen.

How sweet to see them laying together. It’s obvious the bond that is between them, Joanne. I can’t wait until I have grandkids. That’s such a rich and blessed time of life, I bet! And I love the new look of your blog. I haven’t visited in a while but love the new design and colors! Hugs to you!
It is a most precious time of life, Beth, one you will surely enjoy when the day comes. I thought the time had come to make a change with the blog. And I am glad I did. Thank you!
How beautiful is the relational/generational tapestry God weaves in our lives. Something to be cherished and protected!
It truly is, Elizabeth. We have been blessed for sure.
What a beautiful photo on so many levels. There is nothing better than a sister that loves you like crazy and is willing to let you snuggle (whether it be physically or mentally or emotionally) whenever you need to. On another note, have I mentioned that I love your new web design?! It looks great!
Those two love each other deeply. It is amazing the comfort they derive from one another. Just yesterday the younger one mentioned to me that she loves Sophia just because she holds her hand.
I appreciate that you like the new look here. Thank you!
Oh, I love that sweet picture. Relationships are what it is all about. Your mother started a beautiful tradition in having the girls get away for a weekend of worship and time with God. Awesome!
Yes, Lisa, my mom has done much to show us how to foster relationship. I am very grateful for her wisdom. Praying I always do the same.
“Each one vital to the other,” yes. Thank you for sharing!
And we all are just that – vital to one another.
