It was a recently celebrated day – Mother’s Day. It is a day in which we remember mothers, motherhood, maternal bonds, the influence of women in our lives, and just about everything related to family. Some are served breakfast in bed, others receive their favorite flowers. Others let the day slip by quietly.

Our family has been blessed by several godly and wise women who have influenced me deeply. Yet this year, I found myself remembering those who cannot say the same for they have been abandoned or rejected by circumstances which have robbed them of the very women who would have loved and nurtured them.

And yet our God never forgets a single one –

“Never! Can a mother forget her nursing child? Can she feel no love for the child she has borne? But even if that were possible, I would not forget you!” (Isaiah 49: 15, NLT)

As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you …” (Isaiah 66:13, NIV)

In search of an illustration of the constant love God feels for each of His children, the prophet Isaiah found mothers to be the best example he could use. Mothers love their children fiercely and will provide for their own even at the expense of their own comfort. God gathers His own to comfort them in their time of need as only He can.

I sat looking at their photos. The faces of these women and their children, now so precious to me. Their names and circumstances familiar as prayer needs have been shared, spanning miles of land and ocean, hearts becoming one before the throne of our Father.

The rest of this post is at The Lulu Tree and I hope you will join me there.
