Earlier this morning I read Luke 8:40-48 where I found two encounters with Jesus.

First we have Jairus, who comes to ask Jesus to heal his only daughter, who is dying. While Jesus is on his way to the home of Jairus, the crowd is still with him, and a woman presses through to touch the hem of Jesus robe and is immediately healed.

Two very different health needs. One is dying, the other a slow bleed. Each need critical to the individual as our needs are critical to us.

  1. As we wait expectantly, Jesus comes. The crowds had been waiting for Jesus (verse 40). May we wait for, and welcome, Jesus into our situations.
  2. We cannot stay hidden from Jesus. In the middle of a large crowd, this women pushes and reaches for just the hem of Jesus’ robe (verse 43). May we realize we are not hidden from Him and come before Him, reaching out to Him and His power to invade and change situations.
  3. There is no need to big or to small for Jesus. Jairus’ daughter is dying. The woman had a chronic condition that hadn’t changed or improved in 12 years. No matter the need, they all matter to Jesus.

“He will perfect that which concerns me” Psalm 138:8 (NKJV).

What is concerning you today? Are you waiting for Jesus to come to this situation? Do you know that you are not hidden from Him and His care? Do you know there is no need, big or small, He cannot take care of or perfect in your life?

Bring every care to Him.
