Every Friday I join a community of bloggers for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt, five minutes. Unedited. The prompt this week is … Once.
For the past year, it seems like everything we have known is being shaken up. We no longer get together, shop, go out to eat, or attend church in the same way as before.
The way life once was has changed.
Scripture brings the reminder of how God shakes things up so that what once was is changed or removed, to reveal what is firm and unshakeable.
“And his voice shook the earth then, but now He has promised saying, “Yet once more I will shake not only the earth, but also the heaven.” This expression, “Yet once more,” denotes the removing of those things which can be shaken, as of created things, so that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.” (Hebrews 12:26-27, NASB)
Life can be shaken by relationship difficulties, financial hardship, crushed dreams, health challenges, and pandemics. None are enjoyable and yet, once shaken we find ourselves unshaken.
“Faith is not believing in my own unshakable belief. Faith is believing an unshakable God when everything in me trembles and quakes.”
(Beth Moore)
The temporal, that which once was, has become shaken, sifted, and removed. Those things which are eternal remain – stronger and more precious than ever before.

Today I am joining …
Joanne,
I believe God is once more shaking the earth to see what of value will remain and we’re not liking it. Your post reminds me that I want to be part of what/who remains true to Him.
Blessings,
Bev xx
Once shaken, yet stronger than before!
Love those thoughts!
God holds is still while the world around us shakes. God bless. Visiting from fmf #4
Everything that can be shook…..
we do need to hold to our unshakeable God.
No words!! Amen. FMF#17
So true, Joanne. I’m so glad God never changes and His unshakable faithfulness will carry us through. Love and blessings to you!
I love the last part of that verse: “so that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.” Sometimes it takes everything getting shaken up to bring us back to our moorings and remind us of what’s unshakeable–God’s love and care for us, His truth, our salvation, and so much more.
Beautiful Joanne, I love your thoughts. Blessings.

Good reminder that even when everything is being shaken up around us, God is still in control.
