This morning I feel guilty for laughing over something that I probably should not have. I admit that at times I have a quirky sense of humor. The Lord needs to help me reign that in. But to get back to what I laughed at. I read this tweet last night….
“APOCALYPSE: On May 21st, one of two things should end ; either the world or Harold Camping’s career as a prophet.”
I had heard this before. As a matter of fact, this is not the first prophecy that has been made by this individual regarding the return of Christ. Needless to say, none of his past prophecies have proven to be true. Hence, this new one. What is sad to me is the people that believe him. They think he knows.
If only those people would look into Scriptures, the source of all truth, they would read…
“No one knows about that day or that hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” (Matthew 24:36).
Those are the very words of Jesus. In that chapter in Matthew, Jesus tells us the signs of the end of the ages. And then He tells us that no one knows the day of His return. The Father has not even shared that with His own Son. Christ is sitting at the right hand of the Father waiting to be commissioned to return. No one knows the day. No one knows the hour. No one.
Now the only thing that this situation is proving is that the Word of God contains all truth. See, in His Word, we are also told…
“But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you.” (2 Peter 2:1).
There we have it – false teachers among us.
May I be a person that knows the truth of God’s Word. May each one of us KNOW His truths. That is the only way we will not be fooled, not follow false teachers, not be deceived. May we always make His Word our plumb line. May we only believe that which lines up with Scripture.
So this Sunday you will find me in the nursery during the first service & worshiping during the second :))
