For the last three years, Sophia has swung on this:
She has enjoyed & loved it. As she swings, we play, “I Spy With My Little Eyes”. Last week Poppy & I bought her this:
She loved it & has repeatedly told us that she loves her playground.
This morning I watched her for a few hours. We played on the swingset for quite some time & then she asked…
“Mimi, can we go swing on the red swing?”
Are you serious? We bought the new swing set as she had grown too big for the red swing. Yet this is where we ended back so we could play, “I Spy”.
I have thought about this all afternoon.
Am I really that different from Sophia? Probably not.
How often do I default back to that which is comfortable, known & safe?
How often have I excused myself by saying,
“It is just the way I am.”
“It’s the way it has always been.”
                 “That will never change.”
“It is what I am comfortable with.”
How grateful I am that God does indeed change me. I am grateful that even when I do default to old ways, He gives me opportunity to start anew. Habits may die hard but in & through Christ, they can DIE! And that is the point. We can change.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” 2 Corinthians 5:17 NIV).
