This is my favorite picture representing four generations of the women in our family. Sure, we now have another baby girl to add to the mix. And an in-law as our family is growing. But this will always be a photo near & dear to my heart. The first four generations photo.
We set out that day to the Target photo session with such joy & expectation. The picture came out pretty near perfect if you ask me. But this is a “behind the scenes” sort of photo π so there is a story behind the smiles.
As soon as the door closed to the room where the photographer was set up, Sophia freaked out. FREAKED OUT! We had to leave our session & go for a walk around the store to calm her down. In hopes that she would do better, we returned. Once again, she began to panic & cry. Somehow the photographer managed to get this one picture in which we are all smiling. And that makes me smile each time I see this photo.
I am also reminded of these quotes about smiles:
- Γ’β¬ΕDon’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.Γ’β¬Β (Dr. Seuss, my all time favorite author!).ΓΒ I do smile each time I see this photo.
- “The smile on my face, doesnt mean my life is perfect. It means I appreciate what I have and what God has blessed me with.” (unknown author). I have been blessed with my family for sure!
- “All’s well that ends well.” It ended well with this picture π
Today I linked with Behind The Scenes .
It’s a great photo and a wonderful memory! My munchkin didn’t enjoy getting studio photos taken either. I think the flash scares her.
You might be right about the flash. Didn’t think of that. Thank you for stopping by!
Dear Joane
What bunch of beautiful ladies you all are. And the photos look amazing!
Blessings
Thank you, Mia. It has been such a blessing to have four generations. Truly God has been so good to us!
What a wonderful picture & beautiful smiles!! Love your smile quotes too!
Thank you so much. I love Dr. Seuss π Thank you for visiting me.

LOVE that Dr. Seuss quote…one of my favorites! The story you told…pretty much identical to our family-picture-taking *fun* last November. The photographer got one photo. ONE. That’s because our little girl decided that running laps was much more fun. Nothing could calm her down and she wouldn’t sit for anything. So we took the one, (mostly good) photo, ordered some prints, and called it a day. Oy… But prayers appreciated…we have another one scheduled for next week. Praying she cooperates… Thank you for sharing today…love your story! Blessings! π
LOL Mel, at the use of your adjective *fun*!!! I will be praying for your photos next week. I do hope that she will enjoy the session more this time. May the outcome be a blessing to you all.
love the memories behind the photo..and the twinkle in your little girl’s eyes π
It is such a fun link up! Thank you for hosting it & for stopping by.

I would have loved to have seen your picture as well but kept getting an error message. It is always fun & a blessing to see so many generations together. Thank you for the visit!
Joanne: I’ve seen this photo before and still think it’s a beautiful one of the “ladies” in your family. Looking forward to seeing an up-dated one sometime soon! (?) Blessings to you all!

So fun to see a comment from you! I would LOVE to post a more recent picture of our generations but that would mean all parties would have to cooperate. I will have to work on mom π
Love you!
Jo
