Just a few days ago, my daughter asked me what I would like for Christmas. At this point, it is a no brainer for me – “my calendar”. You know the one – the cheap one in which you rip off a page each day to reveal the next day. But it can’t be any calendar – no, it has to be one which has a Scripture for each day.
It has been years now that I have loved my calendars. There is something so special which occurs as I read the Scriptures on each page and come to the realization that He sees me and knows me intimately.
I’m on a life journey right now, not of my choosing. Actually, none of us chose it. But we’re journeying with Him and He is enough for each day.
How is it that He can take Advent readings, calendars and current situations and weave them together in such a way to me more of Him?
It’s absolutely humbling. It truly is!
On this journey, there were decisions to be made. Hard ones at that. And here is what I have learned in the last few days ….
“Listen! It’s the voice of someone shouting, “Clear the way through the wilderness for the Lord! Make a straight highway through the wasteland for our God!”
(Isaiah 40:3, NLT)
When in the wilderness, He makes a straight way – a highway – for us to travel.
And we come through.
Know why we come through? Have you ever wondered? I have and I discovered it is not just for my comfort or ease. Although it is a part of it, a very small part to be sure. To find the rest of the story, we must continue to read …
“Fill in the valley, and level the mountains and hills. Straighten the curves, and smooth out the rough places. THEN the glory of the of the Lord will be revealed, and all people will see it together.” (verses 4-5, NLT)
He brings us through so that we will see His glory revealed.
We’ll see it together. And we will know –
He. Is. God.
Alone.

Today I am joining …. Thought Provoking Thursday and Coffee for Your Heart and Hearts for Home and Titus 2 Tues. .
Love this – “He brings us through so that we will see His glory revealed.” It is true that reading “the rest of the story” gives us a better insight to the “Why?” Thank you for sharing!
I know that at times I jump to conclusions & so get it wrong! May we remember in the days ahead, He has more to the story! May you have a blessed New Year’s!
It is such a sweet kiss from the Lord when He takes the things we seemingly “stumble” upon and uses them to speak to our hearts and confirm His nearness. Not surprising, but so amazing, that the God of the universe can use Facebook, worship songs on a radio, and calendars to meet us right where we are it.
Tiffany, I am continually amazed at what the Lord uses in my mundane days to speak into my heart. This is the reason I named my blog Days & Thoughts. So grateful He meets us right we are. May you have a blessed New Year’s!
Amen! I love your scripture calendar! And I love that verse! I’ve been watching my path lately waiting for where God will direct. It’s always a comforting reminder to know that even when there might be rocks in our way, God’s got a bigger plan and it all culminates with us bringing Him glory : ) Have a terrific Thursday Joanne!
Heather, it is comforting to remember that He always has a bigger plan. Besides, He’s experienced at rolling stones out of the way 🙂 May you have a blessed New Year’s!
Thank you. Your words blessed me this morning!
Grateful they did. Praying that your New Year will be filled with all of His best for your life, Barbie!
Hello sweet friend! Love it! I also can’t survive with out my “page per day” desk calendars! I am thankful that every year I receive one that is different from the previous years, and each one seems to have words that encourage and lift me up for that day! I love knowing that God speaks to me through these pages!
Blessings for a Merry Christmas filled with His amazing grace, love, and hope!!
Denise
Denise, I received my new calendar for 2014 🙂 Cannot wait to see what God has to speak to me through those pages in the coming days. May you have a blessed New Year’s!
