Every Friday I join a community of bloggers for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt, five minutes. Unedited. The prompt this week is: Invest.
Invest – what comes to mind is when we put into, or commit, to something or someone expecting a return.
“Having so fond an affection for you, we were well-pleased to impart to you not only the gospel of God but also our own lives, because you had become very dear to us.“ (1 Thessalonians 2:8, NASB)
We might replace that word ‘impart’ with the word ‘invest’. Paul may have been remembering all that he had invested, deposited, or put into the lives of those people who were in his life.
We want to be like Paul – all in. No matter the cost. Not only to Jesus and to the Church, but to people.
Affectionately. Longingly. Imparting. Giving. Sharing. Investing.
These are the words implied in these verses. This is the way to connect with those around us. It is the way to impart the Gospel with sincerity and depth.
God has placed people in our lives in whom we are to invest,
and give ourselves fully.
It is how we will make the Lord known wherever we go.

Today I may be joining: Five Minute Friday .
Yes! People are the best investment. I like your description: Affectionately. Longingly. Imparting. Giving. Sharing. Investing. So good!
Yes! God has designed us for community.
Amen! It’s a good reminder that, when we invest in people (like the young woman I’m mentoring) it can be difficult. But when we think of how the Lord has chose us to be his representative, we keep going. Despite the cost. Thanks sis, be blessed. Gina
