We are living in a time where we can fact-check anything which is said or written. And yet, even with all the information at our fingertips, we need to exercise caution for AI and other sources can be misleading and wrong at times.
So what are we to do?
In her latest book, Follow Your Heart & Other Lies, Susan Chamberlain Shipe addresses eighteen sayings or quotes we often hear thrown around.
In so doing, the author raises the question: “But are they biblical?
This is the question we all need to be asking ourselves each day. As we scroll through social media, we see pretty images and platitudes which can sound right, but are they? They can be close enough to the truth, but does that make them God’s truth?
With each of the eighteen lies, the author explains the gist of each saying. With each, she provides Scriptures for the reader to consider and delve into for themselves.
As she concludes each lie, space is left for your own thoughts and observations. Some you may agree with, some you may disagree. But one thing is sure, the book will lead you to search Scriptures and read them for yourself, and that is always a very good thing.
“If you seek her [wisdom] as silver and search for her as for hidden treasures; Then you will discern the fear of the Lord and discover the knowledge of God.” (Proverbs 2:4-5, NASB)
Go on your own treasure hunt.
Pan for the gold in Scripture.
Know the truth, letting Scripture guide you into the truth of God.
