Every Friday I join a community of bloggers for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt, five minutes. Unedited. The prompt this week is: Prove.

If I were to define the word ‘prove’ I could say it means to provide evidence to establish a truth.

Recently I had to prove who I was in order to obtain a license and Real ID. It was an experience to say the least. Going with all the necessary documents, or so I thought, I provided hard copies of my birth certificate, Social Security card, mortgage bill, a utility bill, a credit card bill, most recent income tax filing, and more. Truly more documentation than was needed.

Or so I thought …

Then I was asked, “Do you have a marriage certificate to prove your name change?”

The one piece missing and so I could not prove who I was, and would need to return with the missing proof.

Returning to my definition of ‘prove’, God surely did prove, and proves each day, His deep love for us.

But God proves His own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us!”
(Romans 5:8, HCSB)

When we were not worthy, and undeserving of His love,
Jesus = all the evidence we need
to prove the truth of God’s love for us.
