A quick look in the dictionary brings clarity as the word is defined as “to draw closer to.”
“Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16, NASB)
We have been given access to the very ear of our God, who attentively and faithfully, hears our cries for help. In the back of my Bible, I have written this quote which has often brought such assurance:
“Speak to Him, thou, for He hears, and Spirit with spirit can meet.
Closer is He than breathing, and nearer than hands and feet.”
(Alfred Lord Tennyson)
God does not distance Himself from us In fact, quite the opposite –
He bids us to draw near to Him,
and He draws nearer to us.
