I have always had a friend at every stage of my life. It seems that the stages of my life have been marked by deep & meaningful friendships. The person that I could share & bare my soul. The friend that I could cry & pray together with. So parts of me & my life are known by varied friends.
Yet I have longed for that girlfriend that would know me through all the stages of my life. The one that would be around while we grow old together, remembering..
- our school days
- our graduations
- our weddings
- our child-rearing days
- I want to pull my hair out kind of days
- I have wrinkles & need cream
- our aging parents
- my children are getting married
- help me find a dress for the wedding
- I am aging, will my husband still love me kind of days
You know the friend I am talking about. The one that is always there – through every day, every situation, every tear, every bit of joy & laughter. And yet I have “friends” for stages of my life.
But this morning I realized…..
Lord, You surely did give me a Friend for every stage of my life. This morning my heart is filled with this joy & assurance……
“A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” (Proverbs 18:24 NIV84).
Today I linked at Five Minute Friday and Womanhood With Purpose and Friday Favorite Things and Finding Joy .
We are in agreement, bless you.
It’s a beautiful thing that happens on Fridays!! Have a great day!
looks like lots of us have keyed into that Proverbs 18:24 verse this beautiful spring Friday! I’m totally with you on this!
That is a sweet reminder. Yes, He is a friend of friends. One more attentive and insightful than any other. Thanks for these words. Dropping by today from Lisa-Jo’s.
So glad that you did! Seems like we have all found “friends” at Lisa’s š Blessings!
Yes, we are all latching onto this truth!! Blessings!!
Loved your post. Your post is kind of my life story. I was always having to make new friends and so I have had these different best friends at different life stages- but not many of those friends that you can say have been there through all of the mile stones-the forever friends. I always wished I had more of the forever type, as it makes you feel connected to your roots. When you can go back and reminisce those old memories together. However, I guess seasonal friends have their place and that can be wonderful and exciting too.
forgot to mention- loved that you brought God in to it. Now that is one friend that has been there since day one š
Loved how you put it – He is a friend “that has been there since day one”! Thank you for sharing your thoughts!! Blessings, friend!
