You look at this picture & you see the beautiful face of a one year old in her princess pajama top looking at you with a whistle in her mouth. Not so bad. Right?
Wrong!
Her fixation on whistles started months ago, while she was yet in her walker. She discovered the whistle that my son uses for coaching & instinctively positioned it in her mouth correctly. And so it was for MONTHS. None of us felt at all compelled to show her what a whistle can do. Basketball season ended & so did the fixation with the whistle.
Until yesterday.
She found it. While this picture makes it look like she only has it in her mouth, do not be fooled. She blew the first time quite by accident & to her delight. After that, the noise level was ear piercing & Jocelyn would not be distracted or convinced to do anything else but blow.
But look at that face. Who could have taken it away from her? Fortunate for those in ear shot, bed time was only a few hours away. Besides, it was scriptural š
Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise. (Psalm 98:4 KJV)
Notice the toys left in her wake as we tried to distract her from the whistle…..nothing would take away from that fun! š
And big sister can be spotted sitting at the computer desk, keeping herself out of trouble. Who knew a little one could do it all by herself! And we now have the picture to prove it, lol !!!
Awww…bless her heart, making her joyful noise š Too cute!! Maybe the whistle found a good hiding spot after bedtime??
š She’d search high & low for it, lol. So glad you stopped by!
So cute! But I feel your pain a little…for some reason, I thought it was a spectacular idea to buy my toddler a recorder last year… Thanks for sharing…blessings! š
LOL. Oh yes, I have bought a recorder as well thinking it was a good idea!!! Too funny!
Aw, she’s so cute! How could anybody bear to take her toy away? I have hidden many a toy from my kids over the years for my own protection. Isn’t it funny the things they get fixated on?
It really is amazing the things that end up holding their attention! It is what makes watching them develop the fun that it truly is!
Oh bless her heart! And yours – my daughter was given a whistle as a gift at Christmas and to our delight has never known it exists š
LOL – you all were much wiser š
What a cutie! š
Thank you! She really is. Hence – she was able to keep the whistle š
She’s definitely cute enough to get away with blowing the whistle. Hope you were able to find something to replace her fixation with it.
