{{Today is Friday!!! It is the day I link with Lisa Jo Baker for Five Minute Friday. Here is how it works…. One word prompt. Five minutes. No editing. Lots of women. We all write on the same word.}
Today the word is …. mess.
Mess —> when things are dirty or disordered or in confusion or out of place.
And who of us has not been there at some point in life in some way? At this current moment, my family room is a mess of toys as both girls have been up and playing since about 5:30am 🙂
Our mess can be family dysfunction, a divorce, adultery, alcoholism, addictions, bankruptcy, unemployment, a career change, a decision.
But let’s face it – a mess is a mess no matter what it looks it may appear. Some of my messes may not mean major upheaval. Some days, my mess may take the form of:
- an unkind word which I have spoken
- moments of impatience
- anger
- procrastination ((OUCH}} I have a phone call to make!
- a thought which I kept to myself but still it was unkind
- gossip
- trying to cook dinner

See what I mean? And then I remember to pray ….
And me? I’m a mess. I’m nothing and have nothing; make something of me. You can do it; you’ve got what it takes – but God, don’t put it off. (Psalm 40:17, MSG)
~~~Five minutes is up. If you want to read more about saying “yes in your mess” be sure to read Rhinestone Jesus by Kristen Welch. As a matter of fact, Tyndale has graciously given me TWO copies to pass along. Go here to find out more and enter the giveaway.
Today I am joining … Five Minute Friday and Essential Fri. and Beauty Observed and Friendship Fri. and Fellowship Fri. .
Joanne, these are beautiful, truth-filled words! I’m so glad I was the one behind you in our link up on Five Minute Friday today. I can relate, and I believe every woman on the planet can as well. I appreciated the verse in The Message translation! Thank you for blessing me with your five minutes today! God bless you!
Thank you so much, Julie. I was blessed when I read that verse in The Message. I am continually amazed by the community of women who gather each Friday. So glad you stopped here!
Great post! We face so many messes in life, thankfully we have a Savior who can use us despite the messes we find ourselves in. Happy Friday!
Yes, despite our messes! Such a freeing thought!
Happy Friday, friend. I really do enjoy these FMF posts, even though I don’t participate. Much love.
Sometimes I think that we need to see what a mess we really are in order to see how amazing our Savior is. Blessings.
So very true! The contrast is astounding. Hope you are having a great weekend!
I often forget to call on God when I’m in a mess. So silly, because He always pulls me out. Thank you for the encouragement.
May we learn to call on Him quickly & not as a last resort at times. Glad you stopped & shared! Have a wonderful weekend!
Joanne, Great reminder of our daily mess but that God is there even then. Hugs.
Powerful words, Angie…even then. So glad He is there even then. Blessings!
Oh the mess. Like when you are responding to wonderful people that linked up last week and you are just now getting to it 😉
I so appreciate seeing you every week. Thank you so much! And, I’m very excited about the book! Thank you!
You are far from a mess, Elizabeth! I am so glad to have connected with you! May you have a wonderful Mother’s Day.
