One of the best ways I learn is from people watching, especially children.

I have had the joy of having both of my granddaughters while their parents work full time. Sophia taught me much and now that she is in school full time, Jocelyn is picking up the slack.

Yes, Jocelyn is under the blanket. And no, this was not her attempt at tent making. She was under the blanket with a toy which is most familiar to her, having been played with many times before. But today she discovered something different about the toy.

It is a train locomotive which when you push the button, plays the song, She’ll Be Coming Round the Mountain When She Comes. It only plays the one tune. And each time, the headlight comes on.

The only difference today is Jocelyn made a discovery –

The light shines more brightly in the darkness.

And perhaps this is the simple truth God has been conveying to us all along ….

“The Word gave life to everything that was created and his life brought light to everyone.
The light shines in the darkness and the darkness can never extinguish it.”
(John 1:4-5, NLT)
