I was given a Mother’s Day present which is priceless – the gift of a book. It is a book filled with photos and wisdom and quotes for each day of the year. Much like a devotional and yet, not a devotional. The photos are from National Geographic and are stunningly beautiful. The combination always causes my thoughts to turn to the activity of God in my life – today.
Nothing is worth more than this day. (Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe)
“Today” as defined by dictionary.com is “the present time”. The present time, now or “today”.
There is no time like this day. Thinking about tomorrow is pointless as we can never anticipate what the future will bring. Yesterday is done. We cannot relive it or undo it.
But today – well – it is twenty four hours of time spreading out before us like a blank canvas. God is doing something entirely unique to this segment of time. Scripture tells us:
“This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.”
(Psalm 118:24, NLT)
This is the day, the segment of time, He has ordained for today. For right now. May we not dwell in what has been yesterday or what may or may not come tomorrow. May we not miss today. May we find reason, today, to be grateful for life. Today may we take note of God’s bountiful goodness towards us.
Enjoy my favorite day!
Today.

Today I am joining … Three Word Wednesday and Tell His Story and Wedded Wednesday and Women With Intention and Wednesday Prayer Girls .
I love books like this. I just received a teacher one as a gift and I love getting all the wisdom tidbits from it. They make my heart smile. Linking up from Women with Intention
It is amazing to me how one line, one little tidbit of wisdom can change our perspective or focus. Have a good Wednesday!
Today is such a gift. I love how it’s called “the present.” How perfect! I spend way too much time concerned about the future, which of course always leads to worry and anxiety. Thanks for this important encouragement today!
Candace, you expressed me perfectly – spending way too much time concerned about the future. The word which comes to me rather than “concerned” is fretting which means “to cause corrosion by gnawing” & isn’t that exactly what worry will do to us – gnaw away at our insides. May we both live in the gift of today. Thank you for sharing & blessing me, Candace!
Thanks for the reminder! Loved Pooh and Piglet. Found you on Juana Mikel’s link up. You might want to add her to your link up list which i really appreciated. 🙂 From one fellow blogger to another, I wish you a blessed day. Keep on keepin’ on! ~andy lee
Joanne, I LOVE this! There will never be another day like today, Pooh is so wise. It IS my favorite day. thank you for refreshing my spirit. Hugs, Janet
Isn’t it amazing how we can forget how wonderful “today” truly is! Enjoy the day!
I love Pooh’s way of thinking, Joanne! And yes, today is the day the Lord has made. I know I hurry through each day trying to get all sorts of things done and rarely stop to realize the gift from the Lord that this present moment is to me. And it seems to be going faster and faster the older I get! Thanks for the inspiring post, my friend!
Beth, you brought a smile as I, too, think the days are going faster lately 🙂 Another good reason to enjoy “today”!
Aww Joanne, I love your post! I’d have never thought that Pooh could teach us such priceless lessons!
I have learned much from Pooh each Wednesday. He was wiser than I realized when I was child 🙂 Thank you for stopping here!
Pooh is full of wisdom – so glad you keep sharing it! Thanks for linking up at #ThreeWordWednesday.
Love this, Joanne! My Nana had a plaque on the wall of her home that said, ““Yesterday is history; tomorrow is a mystery; today is a gift. That’s why we call it the present.” It’s lesson has stayed with me always. Have a blessed day – today!
May we open and enjoy our gift “today”! Grateful you stopped & shared!
Joanne, today is such a gift and so are you! Thanks for linking up at Women With Intention Wednesdays! I look forward to what you will share this week! 🙂
Thank you for the encouragement. It’s a blessing to join you each week!
