I cannot believe today is the last day of July 2013! Where oh where did it go? In a Facebook status, Lisa reminded me that 4 weeks from today, we get back to our school routine. Since July was such a great month, I thought I would share…..
BOOKS I READ IN JULY:
- When God Intervenes: An Extraordinary Story of Faith, Hope, and the Power of Prayer by Dabney Hedegard. Wonderful, touching story of faith.
- Bread & Wine by Shauna Niequist. I cannot say enough about this one. LOVED it!
- The 21 Toughest Questions Your Kids Will Ask about Christianity: & How to Answer Them Confidently by Alex McFarland. A different sort of read. A great resource!
-
Timothy: A Little Fish with a Big Purpose! by Brad Riley. My first review of a children’s book. Fun to read. Great for kids.
- Named By God by Kasey Van Norman. Kasey was a new author for me & I am so glad that I found her.ĆĀ A great book that ignited my faith.
BOOKS I AM CURRENTLY READING:
- Daring Greatly by Brene Brown. Having read so many quotes by her, I decided to read one of her books for myself. This one has not disappointed me.
- Judges For You by Timothy Keller.
BOOKS STILL WAITING TO BE READ:
- Chasing Francis by Ian Morgan Cron
- Firefall to Fly by Rebekah Lyons
- Kingdom Woman by Tony Evans
TELEVISION SHOWS:
- This month I found Crossing Lines with Donald Sutherland. I LOVE it! Although I will say, I am averaging jumping out of my skin about 3X a show. Very intense.
- America’s Got Talent. Mindless & entertaining š
MEMORIES:
- Our vacation on Lake Winnepausaukee. Still wondering how a week can come & go so quickly!
- Funspot – skeet ball, Baseball arcade game & Whack A Mole!!!!
- I participated in my first writing contest @ causepub.com. Still waiting for the voting results. I cannot believe that I got up my courage to even submit an entry. Huge for me!
BEST SERMON I HEARD THIS MONTH:
- OK, I hesitated to list this category. At the same time, I felt compelled to include it. This sermon was the best one I heard this month because it motivated me to be brave. To step out & do something that I ordinarily would not. It made me realize that God’s Word will result in change, in transforming us in ways both big & small. Listen to “Walking On The Water” here .
This was a great start to summer. A relaxing & fun month to do those things I enjoy.
I linked with What I’m Into and What I Learned .
Fun post! I just finished reading Bread and Wine as well. Such a wonderful read!
I am stopping by from Emily’s today. š
Bread & Wine was such a great read. And then to get the added bonus of the recipes!! So glad you visited.
Bread and Wine was amazing. I am working through her other books now.
Cold Tangerines was also GREAT! I am now wanting to read Bittersweet š Thanks for stopping by!!
I probably couldn’t handle Crossing Lines. Shows like that make me so nervous even when they’re really good.
I can’t wait to read Daring Greatly. Everyone has such great things to say about it.
It is such a great book. Here’s a teaser for you as I just read this a few minutes ago :)….”Are my choices comforting & nourishing my spirit, or are they temporary reprieves from vulnerability & difficult emotion ultimately diminishing my spirit? Are my choices leading to my Wholeheartedness (what she defines as being a whole person) or do they leave me feeling empty & searching?” (page 147).
My July list also includes Daring Greatly. I had to return the library book and buy my own copy just to underline important wisdom and re-read over time.
My book is so written in! I will surely be reading more by her!
LOVED Bread & Wine! Shauna’s best work yet. Best wishes with the writing contest!
Thanks for linking up with What I’m Into!
I thought it was her best as well. I actually found out tonight that my story made it in. So thank you! I appreciate it!!!
