{{Today I am linked with Lisa Jo Baker for Five Minute Friday. Here is how it works…. One word prompt. Five minutes. No editing. Lots of women. Equals a great time.}}
Today’s word?
WORSHIP.
I read the word & paused. Sat back in my chair & had to think about this. It was then I noticed I was humming a song….
“I’m coming back to the heart of worship & it’s all about You, all about You, Jesus.”
Quickly I realized that we have been created to worship. We all worship something. I want to worship Someone. Him.
I do not want my worship to be about a song, a dynamic worship leader, a worship team, the guitars, the lights. Don’t get me wrong those are all good things but should not be at the heart of my worship.
This morning as I thought on this prompt I remembered two quotes on worship that I had written in the back of my Bible:
- Worship —> “Worth-ship, the acknowledgement of the worth is in our God.” (Donald Barnhouse)
- “Worship is a way of gladly reflecting back to God the radiance of His worth.” (John Piper)
This morning I desire to worship Him & Him alone. There will be times that worship will be a sacrifice & times when it will come freely.
But may it always come!
May it always be only about Him!
“Come, let us bow down before the Lord our Maker, for he is our God.” (Psalm 95:6-7).
I have the feeling this song will be on repeat today for me….

I am coming to learn that the times I don’t feel like it….those are the times worship is most needed & critical. Thank you for visiting back 🙂
Oh my…not only did we chose the same title for our post, but we also refer to the same song! How awesome is that? I loved what you shared and love you! Have a wonderful weekend.

I cannot even explain how writing that post & listening to that song (yes! on repeat) impacted me this morning. I love what a one word prompt can do in our lives.
Enjoy the long weekend!

Wow! It is a great post. It is so true that we all worship something and like you I want to worship Jesus. He is the only person worth worshiping.
Can I just say, “Amen!”. Amazing what a one word prompt can stir in our hearts! Have a great weekend!
This is a beautiful post. Thank you for the gentle reminder. It is all about HIm. He is the heart of our worship. Thank you for posting!
I love this song and love worshiping a God who loves me unconditionally.
Great thoughts here. It’s easy to get swept up by the beautiful music when we worship but important to remember that it’s the beauty of the Lord we are celebrating in our worship.
Thanks for linking up at Essential Fridays.
