Today I am joining Kate Motaung in her first Five Minute Friday. Things have remained the same the same. One word prompt. Five minutes. No editing. Lots of women. We all write on the same word.
In the course of my day, there are many things which I must fill …
- my coffee cup with much needed coffee. Multiple times.
- my car with gas.
- my day with activities.
- a measuring cup with an ingredient as I cook or bake.
In all these things, I am the one in control. I am the one handling and managing the filling.
But in my life, I am to hand over the control to the only One who can truly fill me, satisfy me and bring meaning to my days. My life cannot become filled with distractions pulling me away from God.
For when distracted, while I have had my fill, I am full of things which are empty, producing nothing of lasting value.
God rescued His people from the entrapment and slavery of Egypt. He led and returned them to the place where He would make them a distinct people. They would be recognized as His. It would be His doing and not their own.
And He does the same for my life, bringing me to the very place in life, where He fills me with His purposes resulting in my life being filled.
Filled with His love, peace, joy, hope.
“Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it with good things.” (Psalm 81:10b, NLT)
Today I am joining … Five Minute Friday, Everyday Jesus, Faith Filled Friday, Friendship Friday, Essential Fridays, Fellowship Friday, Fulfilled Fridays.
It’s sooooo easy to let distractions fill us up and forget that God wants to fill us (and what he chooses is always enough and just right). Thank you for the reminder to leave the distractions behind!
Truth right in what you shared –> “what He chooses is always enough & just right”.
Love your Five Minute Friday. I miss doing them and enjoyed reading all the creativity of the participants. Love that the Lord fills us up. We just need to allow Him access.
May we always & continually allow Him access as then we will be filled with His best. So glad to have you stop here!
Hi Joanne,
Thank you for your post. So thankful we have our Lord, who fills us with such good things as we surrender our all to Him.
I am as well, Anita. May we remember to do our part & surrender. He then will fill us with what we need – more of Him. Thank you for always blessing me, Anita!
This is the bomb dot com, Joanne. Love, love, LOVE your take on the word fill (and the examples you gave.) This really makes me think as the world tries to fill my life– but really, God is the one who makes my cup (coffee cup and otherwise) runneth over. Thanks for sharing these awesome thoughts over at #EverydayJesus… And best of luck to Katie in taking over FMF!
Sharita, read your comment & now the kids song, “Running Over, Running Over. My cup is full & running over….” is running through my head 🙂
Oh this is so simply and beautifully written. So many people confuse the concept by making it complicated. You have summed it up wonderfully. God is all we need to be filled. Thanks for linking up and sharing at Fulfilled Fridays.
You’re right, we do make it complicated. I know I have probably once too many times over the course of my days. May I remember to keep is simple & remember He is all I need to be filled to the full 🙂 Have a great weekend!
