I went through my teenage years listening to Amy Grant & Kathy Troccoli music. Loved them both! So it should not come as a surprise that one of my favorites Christmas songs is on Amy Grant’s Christmas CD. I have loved this song for years. Even at other times of the year, this song speaks to my heart.
Here’s my life long wish, My grownup Christmas list. Not for myself but for a world in need.
I do not think there has ever been a time where I have been more aware of the brokenness which is in our world. In our lives. And it is into our brokenness that our Savior broke in that first Christmas. Or perhaps He broke open our brokenness.
No more lives torn apart, that wars would never start and time would heal all hearts.
Time does not heal all hearts. But the Babe in the manger did come for that very reason. “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” (Psalm 147:3). He, Himself, dresses our wounds, bandages our hearts so that we do not hemorrhage.
Everyone would have a friend.
It is at this time of year, loneliness is most on display. May those who are alone experience the truth that we have a friend that sticks closer than a brother (Prov.18:24). The Life born in the stable came to bring life and to call us His friend.
Right would always win and Love would never end.
Right will always win. One day He will right all wrongs. And in the meantime, we keep loving others. Loving Him. “Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.Love never ends.” (1 Corinthians 13:7-8, ESV).
“He has shown you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” (Micah 6:8, NIV).
May this song by Amy Grant bless deeply today!

Today I am joining with …. Three Word Wed. and Tell His Story and Wedded Wed. and Works For Me and Coffee & Conversation and Wed. Prayer Girls .
Yes, Yes, Joanne, I’m with you here. A few weeks ago I wrote about letting our lights shine for the holidays. My family and I are collecting things, and plan to take them with food and a financial gift to a Syrian refugee family in our city for Christmas.
What a beautiful & meaningful thing to do for this family. I am sure they are going to be deeply touched.
Great song. I wrote a grown-up Christmas list the other day too.:) Stopping by from Three Word Wednesday.:)
I’m thinking there are many grown-up lists being written. Praying we keep them going all year round! Blessings, Katie!
Goes right along with that less is more theme God’s got going on in my life. š I’m glad you shared this with #ThreeWordWednesday.
Kristin, it has been wonderful to join you on Wednesdays.
May all our Christmas wish lists look more like this. Loved this, Joanne. Very much!!
Blessings. xoxo
So very true, Beth. Blessings to you & yours!
Oh, I was (am) an Amy Grant and Kathy Troccoli fan too…great post!
I still drag out my vinyl records now & then š
“Time does not heal all hearts. But the Babe in the manger did come for that very reason.” Yes. I’m so aware of those with such great needs this season too. š I feel so inadequate to help them. But Jesus is big enough; I have to trust him not only for myself, but also for others. Thanks, Joanne.
Lisa, so grateful our Lord is big enough & is able! May trust grow in our hearts!
Joanne,
That is one of my favorite songs and you really can’t beat the heart behind the lyrics…Yes…and trusting in God’s timing…He will make all things right one day…He will return…until then praying and trusting and loving as He leads…oh, for the grace to follow…blessings to you š
Dolly, truth be known – I often listen to this song at other times throughout the year as I love its message. So grateful that one day He will make all things right. Until then, may we behold Him in wonder & worship Him. Have a most blessed Christmas!
