It is the last Sunday of 2014 and a new year is waiting to arrive in just a few days. For some, life has never been better. Yet for others, the days ahead may not seem as bright. May this be our prayer no matter what the days ahead may hold ….
Look down, O Lord, from your heavenly throne, and illumine this night with your celestial brightness; that by night as by day your people may glorify your holy Name; through Jesus our Lord. Amen.
(from The Book of Common Prayer, as quoted in Learning To Walk In The Darkness by Barbara Brown Taylor, page 101)
“Lord, we show our trust in you by obeying your laws; our heart’s desire is to glorify your name.” (Isaiah 26:8, NLT)
Today I am joining … Give Me Grace and Still Saturday and Spiritual Sundays and Sunday Stillness and Scripture & A Snapshot .
That is a gorgeous picture of the moon and a beautiful prayer for the new year.
Thank you. May our lives bring Him much glory in 2015!
Thank your for sharing your prayer for a new year! I pray things are better for those who need it to be better – and I KNOW He can do all things…and He makes all things new; so, this is my prayer – That He makes all things new and amazing!
Barbara, praying for a new year in which we are amazed by our God. He is ever faithful!
A beautiful prayer for the end of this year. Thank you for sharing this hope.
Karne, may we end & begin our years with hope for hope in Him will never disappoint. Blessings!
Thanks for sharing your prayer from the Word. God has been speaking to my heart about His “light”. “He is the Light of the world.” “His word is a lamp unto my feet and a lamp unto my path” “Even the darkness is light to Him.”. I believe that my word for 2015 is “light”
Mare, so funny how the Lord shows us what our focus is to be on in the New Year. Mare, your post brought to mind, “For you have rescued me from death; you have kept my feet from slipping. So now I can walk in your presence, O God, in your life-giving light.” (Ps. 56:13, NLT). May you walk each day this coming year in His life-giving light! Much love to you!
Yes the time might be of happiness or sorrow and that’s why we need the strength of God. Then we can have a joy in the midst of sorrow. Following you from Still Saturday.
Thanks for linking to Sunday Stillness
Blessings,
Janis

Beautiful. To glorify His name, there can be no greater desire than this.
