I recently had the opportunity to read Choosing Him All Over Again by Juana Mikels. This is the testimony, her very own, of a marriage changed and restored.

She has everything that is supposed to make a young woman happy: handsome husband, dream job, new home, great vacations, fun friends, and plenty of money.

But she isn’t happy.

Leaving husband, house, and friends behind, Juana begins her search for peace and happiness in earnest. Mistakenly, she thinks all she needs is “Mr. Right,” but instead, Juana finds Jesus””and the peace she has always longed for.

More than a story of a marriage changed and restored, it is the story of lives which have been changed. In finding Jesus, Juana finds herself growing deeply in love with Him, begins to trust Him and learns about His desire for marriages.

She writes:

“When we marry, we bring our past with us.”

“One shining family for Christ is a light on a hill to a world that is unraveling.”

“I want a marriage more beautiful than my wedding.”

“Be willing to be the first one to change.”

“Knowing men and women have different perspective on nearly everything could have saved us a lot of heartache.”

“A good marriage is not something you find, but something you make.”

photo-1Juana shares with an honesty and transparency that it sure to draw every reader in close. She also shares about her relationship with Elisabeth Elliot, her mentor. There is much to be gleaned from this book both spiritually and practically for it is packed full of wisdom. This is a book of hope and transformation and worth the time to read as it will be life impacting.
