Iโm joining Kate Motaung for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt. Five minutes. No editing. Lots of women. All of us writing on that same word.
Today the word prompt is โฆ Open.
I continue to be amazed at how God can intersect a book I am reading, prayers on my heart and a one word prompt. Only God. That’s all I am saying.
I’ve been praying for open doors for a while now. Each day we have opportunities before us – people we meet, places we go, the tasks we do – all of which present opportunities to us.
I so desire to know which are the opportunities God has placed in my life – –
I know all the things you do, and I have opened a door for you that no one can close.รย (Revelation 3:8, NLT)
I have been reading this verse all week. From this verse, we see God opens and closes doors. He both gives us opportunities and He closes opportunities. As we walk through those open doors, the very ones He opens for us, we will find ourselves positioned to have our story intersect with God’s greater story.
The open door presents limitless opportunities to each of us every day. It is the place, the moment even, where we do something worthwhile that will have impact for all eternity. It is those times where we find purpose and feel our worth before God.
The thing about that door is >> He has already opened it. It is an open door before me which I must walk through or enter.
I have tended to think the door God opens has to present something big. And I am discovering those doors He opens? Well, they are often disguised as small for when we do the small, it is then He makes something big.
I so am praying for eyes to see the open door each day.
*And yes, these thoughts were prompted by my reading this week of “All The Place To Go” by John Ortberg. A wonderful book which I will review shortly.
Today I am joining … Five Minute Friday and Fellowship Friday and Everyday Jesus and Faith Filled Friday and Dance With Jesus and Blessing Counters .
Great response to “open”. I cant’ wait to read your book review too! Enjoy seeing you on the #dancewithJesus linkup. Have a great weekend, Kim Stewart

Thank you. I won’t post the review until I have read the entire book. I’m halfway and it is wonderful!
Joanne….what a wonderful way to start my day. May I see all the doors as I journey with the Lord. Not only see, but walk through. Thanks for the encouragement.
Deb, I am learning so much these last few months. Open doors come in all types of circumstances in all sorts of people. And I agree with you – I not only want to see, I want to walk through! Much love to you!
Open doors. The study I’m doing right now is about access. Open doors. Love His timing! Thanks for sharing at #DanceWithJesus today.
Thanks for sharing this with me as I find it so encouraging to learn how God ties things together. So wonderful to join you again!
I love when God connects things like that! I’m trying to be more faithful to walk through the doors God cracks open and walk past the ones He keeps closed.
Kathryn, you added such a critical point for which I am glad – we want to walk past the doors our God keeps closed. More importantly, if He closes them, may we not try to crack them open. Thank you for sharing this thought!
I am a big believer in closed doors being the openings to new perspectives and grace.
I so agree! And I am glad you stopped here today!
Here is my favorite open door scripture, “because a great door for effective work has opened to me, and there are many who oppose me”. 1 Corinthians 16:9. I continually pray for a great door of effective work to be open to me for Christ’s sake. I am your neighbor at Blessing Counter’s linkup.
Thank you for sharing your favorite Scripture on open doors with me. Just last night, your name came up in conversation with a friend who is currently reading your book, Organizing Your Prayer Closet ๐ Blessings!
Isn’t it great when God is able to connect things for us! Visiting today from Fellowship Friday
It truly is the best as that is when all the connections come to make sense!
Wonderful take on this one word – open. Thank you, Lord, for open doors!
Thankful for the ones He opens & the ones He closes ๐
I love that God does work in ways we do not comprehend. He opens the right doors at just the right times. Thanks for sharing.
Mary, so true. May we remember His time may not match our time. But it will be the perfect time. Blessings!
God has opened (and closed!) many doors in my life, and I can always (not necessarily right away!) see the benefit and blessing each time. ๐ Looking and listening for some open doors this coming year as I dedicate more time to serving and starting a new season in life. This will be a verse I refer to often too! รขโขยฅ
Blessings sweet friend!!
Denise, I will be praying for God’s timing and opportunity in this season of your life. And it is so true, we don’t always see the benefit right away but when we do, my are we not grateful! May you have a blessed Sunday!
God has opened (and closed) many doors in my life-time! Loved your take on “open”; how “coincidental” (HA HA-no coincident here!!!!!) that you have been pondering that verse this week!! He does that, doesn’t he?!
Thanks for sharing!
It is amazing, Barbara, how persistent He can be in driving a point home. So grateful!
Lovely words xx
It was good to see you here, Charlotte. May you have a great weekend!
