Tomorrow I will be sharing my review of Untangled: Let God Loosen the Knots of Insecurity in Your Life by Carey Scott. I’ll also be offering a giveaway of two copies of the book. But today, I thought I would share one of the several Untangling Prayers, as found on page 69:
Father, I am a tangled mess. I’m struggling to feel like I matter. There are so many messages echoing in my mind that reinforce the belief that I’m not good enough. They’ve left me overwhelmed with feelings of worthlessness.
I know your Word clearly tells me of my immeasurable value, but I can’t seem to accept that it’s true. Would you deposit that truth deep in my heart?
I’m tired of feeling unimportant. I’m tired of feeling like I’ll never measure up. I’m tired of working so hard for approval and never getting it. My heart is weary, and I am desperate for the rest only you can provide.
The world has had me on the performance treadmill, making me work to prove my worth. I’m trying so hard to find significance in all the wrong places. And I realize now that I will never find my worth apart from you.
Would you please untangle me? I know you are the only One who can.
In the name of Jesus. Amen.
