I’m joining Kate Motaung for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt. Five minutes. No editing. Lots of women. All of us writing on that same word.
Today the word prompt is … Rise.
I read the word, “Rise”, and immediately began humming … “In the morning when I rise, give me Jesus.”
Oh how I love the song. The melody alone soothes and the words infuse hope and faith.
And then the Scripture came …
As for me, I look to the Lord for help. I wait confidently for God to save me, and my God will certainly hear me. Do not gloat over me, my enemies! For though I fall, I will rise again. Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light.”
(Micah 7:7-8, NLT)
Enemies can come in many shapes – hopelessness, despair, financial difficulty, a challenging child, a work deadline, health problems. An enemy is anything or anyone which comes against you. On any given day, it can be a host of situations.
It is as I rise each morning, filling my heart and mind with the reminder, “What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31)
Who or what, indeed?
But it is only as I rise each morning and allow Him to put His strength – the steel – back into my heart, my mind and my bones that I can rise again to face the day.
Maybe you need a little push to rise ….

Today I am joining … Five Minute Friday and Faith Filled Friday and Dance With Jesus and Grace & Truth .
Visiting from FMF. Great song – thanks for reminding me of it. I so need Jesus today. And yes, I literally had the same thought/Scripture during the night: “if God be for us, who can be against us?” Thank you for the verse from Micah, too. I needed all of this today. I was meant to read your post. Isn’t it awesome how the Lord gives us just what we need when we need it?!
Susan, like you, I find it amazing when the post before mine is exactly what I need to read. Nothing random about the order we link up 🙂 May you have a wonderful long weekend!
I started singing “In the morning when I rise, give me Jesus” as soon as I saw the title of your post! Thank you for helping me start this day by praising Him! #DanceWithJesus 🙂
Sarah, I’ve been humming since I saw the word prompt this morning. Amazing how a single word can prompt a song for the day 🙂
Good morning and happy Friday! I love your thoughts on this word — one of these days I’ll get organized and join you over at 5 Minute Friday!
Michele, I hope you do join in one Friday. And please let me know so I can go visit your post too 🙂
Love, love, love that verse from Micah – not sure I’ve really noticed it before. It spoke powerfully to me today. Thank you for blessing us with these words!
Blessings and hugs,
Kamea
Kamea, I am so glad the verse spoke to me. Although I have read it before, it speaks to me each & every time I read it. We so need to remind ourselves that we have hope in the middle of despair. Blessings to you today!
Rise. Thank you for the gift of that song and your lovely tribute this morning. I rise with joy!
Here’s the deal. I think I must now RISE and do a virtual happy dance with you from #DanceWithJesus at SusanBMead.com!
Susan, so grateful our God causes us to rise time and time again. Wonderful to join you each week. Have a great weekend!
Now I will be singing this today!! I love it when just a small hint can send my voice into a rejoice-mode!
Linda, isn’t it amazing how a song can get stuck in our head from just the mere mention of it or from just one word. I’m joining you in singing it today 🙂
Oh I love this song so much! I saw the prompt this morning and immediately started singing, “Let the glory of the Lord rise among us…”
Karrilee, another GREAT song! Love how we associated the one word with a song. And yes!!! I did pull the song up to listen to while I responded to your comment. I didn’t want to miss out on the blessing of hearing it again!
We rise because of Jesus, because of the hope that is within us. Great post xx
#DanceWithJesus
And that hope will never disappoint us! Grateful you stopped here.
I totally thought of the same song! Jeremy Camp version. 😊
Don’t you just love how one word can bring a song to mind 🙂
