Most Fridays, I join Kate Motaung for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt. Five minutes. No editing. Lots of women. All of us writing on that same word.
Today the word prompt is … Free.
Each Thursday night, I read the word prompt on my twitter feed and head to bed. The word will weave in and through my thoughts during the night. Most mornings, it is a surprise to discover the manner in which the thought has lodged and is waiting for me. This morning was no different …
Thank you, Lord, for saving my soul,
Thank you, Lord, for making me whole;
Thank you, Lord, for giving to me
Thy great salvation so rich and free.
“Free” as defined in the NLT Study Bible is “not bound, confined, or detained by force; without restraint, inhibition or cost.”
This morning I am being reminded of my salvation, freely given when I am most undeserving …
- “And we have received God’s Spirit not the world’s spirit, so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us.” (1 Corinthians 2:12, NLT)
- “Give as freely as you have received.” (Matthew 10:8b, NLT)
I am overwhelmed in thinking of this free gift I have received.
Free to me.
At great cost to Him.
“Thank you, Lord, for giving to me
Thy great salvation so rich and free.”

I will be singing that song all day now, thank you 🙂 it is an oldie but a goodie. Great thoughts on what we have been freely given. I pray I freely give it away to others too! Blessings ♥
Nannette, I had the song stuck in my head for days. I smiled when I saw your comment as your post have often done that to me 🙂 May we give as freely as we have been given for it is then our hearts will most be satisfied. Blessings!
I was just reading about this similar thought this morning, that God is the initiator of the desire to seek Him deep within our hearts. He gave it to us freely! How wonderful. Thanks for reminding 🙂
It is so true. Even the desire to seek Him comes from Him. We are the recipients of more than we can ever realize. So grateful you stopped & shared!
So much Amen!
It is astounding to realize how much a word prompt can speak to our hearts. Blessings!
such a touching post.
Glad you stopped here, Denise. Blessings on your week!
I love this. yes freedom in Christ. What a way to live!
One might say, it is the only way to truly live!
