It’s Friday!!! I’m joining Kate Motaung for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt. Five minutes. No editing. Many of us writing on that same word.
Today’s prompt is … Unite.
Unite – – to come together for a unique purpose. That is my definition.
The dictionary says > “to join, combine, or incorporate so as to form a single whole; to cause to be in a state of mutual sympathy, or to have a common opinion or attitude.”
It can be a challenge to unite. Yet when operating in unity, we form a single whole, no distinction or separation is seen. Each one comprising the whole has similar thoughts and attitudes.
We come together to form the whole. I love that thought. It doesn’t say that each one is a carbon of the other. We each come with our personalities and quirks all our own and somehow, when we are united, the entire purpose is fulfilled.
But how do we get to grow in unity?
“If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit, and purpose.” (Philippians 2: 1-2, NIV)
We are enabled to unite as we unite ourselves with Christ through His love. As our hearts stay tender and compassionate towards one another, our desire to live united with others grows within us.
We often think of unity as being for our good here on earth. And it is. But this is what stood out to me this morning …
We make Jesus truly happy when we agree with one another, love one another, and work together with one mind for His purposes. It is His joy that is made complete. He rejoices when He sees His children living in unity.
Today I am joining … Five Minute Friday and Faith Filled Friday and Grace & Truth .
How good it is for the brethren (& sistrens) to dwell in UNITY!!!
Yes, Susan, that verse had come to mind when I was writing the post! Glad you shared it!
Yes. Let us encourage and build one another up.
Yes, and sometimes this requires us pulling one another up as well 🙂
Amen! I loved this scripture for the word prompt today, Joanne. And I was happy to be your neighbor at #FMF ♥ I want to make Him happy with my LIFE, working and serving alongside my brothers and sisters in the Kingdom…reaching out to others to grow the Kingdom!
I am so grateful that your desire is His as well and He brings that into fruition in our lives. I am always blessed to be your neighbor, Nannette!
I love this. Yes, it is truly honoring to God when we join together in unity with each other and love each other the way God loves us.
Thank you for linking with Grace and Truth last week!
