In her book, “You’re Already Amazingâ€, Holley Gerth writes this:
I believe the desire to know who we really are has been placed within us by the heart of heaven itself. God wants us to understand who he created us to be so that we can fulfill the purpose he has for our lives. (page 23).
Over the course of our lives, we often find ourselves wondering, “Who am I?†or “What am I here for?†Gerth raises an interesting thought….
Perhaps God wants us to ask those questions.
Perhaps it is in asking, we find the answers.
I find myself reminded of this portion of Scripture:
“When you call on me, when you come and pray to me, I’ll listen.
When you come looking for me, you’ll find me.
Yes, when you get serious about finding me and want it more than anything else, I’ll make sure you won’t be disappointed.”
~ Jeremiah 29:13, The Message
God wants us to seek Him. He wants us to come to Him with our questions. He is the One, the Only One who holds the answers for us. Way too often, we look for answers from Him plus an additional source. We have a back-up plan.
Today may we come before Him and ask our questions. May we seek Him and in Him alone find our answers.
The only requirement? Want Him more than anything else.

Today I am joining … Three Word Wednesday and Tell His Story and Coffee For Your Heart and Women With Intention .
I’m so glad that you encourage us to come to God with our questions. I think a lot of women have been taught that questions demonstrate a lack of faith . . . when, in reality, it’s just opposite.
Blessings to you today!
Michele, you raise such a valid observation. Instead of viewing questions as a lack of faith, may we see them as a sign of trust – trust that only God has the answers we seek. So glad you shared!
Sometimes we will never know if we don’t ask!
Very thoughtful post.
Blessings to you
It’s true, Ifeoma. May we remember the many times our children asked questions of us. And be just like them 🙂
Yes, I have often had a “back-up” plan. Thank you for a thoughtful post and the reminder that only He has the answers. I am blessed to be your neighbor at Women with Intention Wednesdays. xo
Me too, Laura. I am beginning to realize often we are deceived into thinking His plan will not work out. May we trust Him and stick with His answers. Glad you stopped here this morning and shared!
Love that version of Jeremiah 29:13! Thanks for sharing.
I do think we should raise our questions to the Lord. After all, He is never surprised by them!
I love what Ifeoma said, “If we don’t ask, we’ll never know!” Simply profound. I want to go ask Him a few questions!!!
Seeking Him and Him alone – yes! We can so often pursue our identify in other people and things, but the truth of who we are, and who we are to become is in Him. Love this, Joanne.
