It’s Friday which means I am joining Kate Motaung for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt. Five minutes. No editing. Many of us writing on that same word.
Today’s prompt is … Common.
Common, as defined by dictionary.com is “belonging equally to, or shared alike by, two or more or all in question“.
It has been quite the week. We probably all can agree on this.
History was once again made as elections were held. There will be some who are elated, some who are disappointed, and some remain confused. The outcome can never truly make everyone happy.
But here we are living in the very place God ordained for each of us …
“He is the God who made the world and everything in it. Since he is the Lord of heaven and earth, he doesn’t live in man-made temples, and human hands can’t serve his needs – for he has no needs. He himself gives life and breath to everything, and he satisfies every need. From one man he created all the nations throughout the earth. He decided beforehand when they should rise and fall, and he determined their boundaries.” (Acts 17: 24-26, NLT)
Our opinions may, and will, vary. But this we have in common – our God.
“Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. Make every effort to keep yourselves unified in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace. For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future. There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God and Father, who is over all and in all and living through all.”
(Ephesians 4: 2-6, NLT)
May we do what we have been called to do and that is to “bind yourselves together with peace.” Make every effort to do so. Unity will only occur as do so, loving one another in the love of Christ.
It is God our Father whom we have in common.
Today I am joining … Five Minute Friday and Faith Filled Friday and Faith ”˜N Friends and #FreshMarketFriday .
So many amen’s…xo
Thank you, friend!
Love all of the scripture here. Thank you
May we turn to Scripture often for the reminders we need in the days ahead.
So true! Our common God has a common purpose for each of us, to get others to Heaven. I’m so glad He made us each uncommon in our gifts though, so we can build upon each other’s gifts to make a huge impact!
#Faith’NFriends,
Julie
Beautifully said, Julie!
He does satisfy every need. Yes indeed. What a beautiful post on seeing God as he is: in control and empowering us to encourage one another with our words and lives.
Beautifully worded, Christina. May we use our words and lives to encourage and spur one another on.
“bind yourselves together with peace.” Make every effort to do so. Unity will only occur as do so, loving one another in the love of Christ….AMEN!
