Five Minute Friday happens when we come together to each write for five minutes on a one word prompt. The prompt this week is … Steady.
The dictionary tells me that to be steady is “to be firmly places or fixed; stable in position; constant; habitual; unfaltering.”
Turning on the news each evening can leave me disappointed, disheartened, and afraid most days. Every day we can hear of violence and tragedy. Unrest. Hatred. Attacks.
These reports keep me focused and intentional as I read:
“So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever unseen.”
(1 Corinthians 15:58, NLT)
Some versions say, “Let nothing move you.”
Stay steady.
We can stay steady, firmly fixed in our position with God. We keep on doing what we have always done.
These reports keep me in God’s Word. They keep me focused on what is true and right and good. I stay focused on the One who is steady:
“All honor and glory to God forever and ever! He is the eternal King, the unseen one who never dies, he alone is God. Amen.” (1 Timothy 1:17, NLT)
Today I am joining … Five Minute Friday and Faith On Fire and Faith Filled Friday and Faith ”˜N Friends .
I love you view the news, yet rely on Him for perspective. Great reminder for me!
Visiting from FMF. Happy Writing!
The news causes me to rely on Him 🙂 I think otherwise, I would be most fearful of the days we are in. Blessings!
Beautiful photo and verse, Joanne. I try to anchor myself in God’s word daily, and when I fix my eyes on Jesus, I am much more steady. #19 at #fmf.
Absolutely, Sarah. In these unsteady days, He is our source of steadiness!
I needed this verse this week. Fortunately, God used different ones to keep me steady, but I’ll be adding this to my reminders.
Hey, pass one of your “steady” verses to me 🙂 Blessings, friend!
This is so true, Joanne; with God we not only have a fixed point, but a fixed relationship based on His offer of love and forgiveness.
#1 at FMF this week.

Amen, Andrew. May God continue to keep you steadily fixed on Him.
Thank you for the reminder of staying firm and steady when everything around us is not. Joining you from FMF – #82
Amen! God is immovable and steady–when the world seems to be collapsing around us, HE is the rock I run to.
And you literally run, Anita 🙂 I love that. I so enjoyed your post on Monday!
All glory to him forever! Amen!
