“Everyone has the mental recording of someone else’s words, someone who made us obviously aware of how small, how unprepared, how extraordinary we are.”

(from You Can Do This by Tricia Lott Williford, page 99)

Words. We use them all day long. Research shows that women speak an average of 20,000 words daily while men speak an average of about 7,000. This would mean that women talk about 3X as much as men but we’ll leave this topic for another day.

Scripture tells us we would be wise to speak thoughtfully, weighing our words as they will have impact.

“The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences.” (Proverbs 18:21, NLT)

In her book, You Can Do This, Tricia Lott Williford, reminds us to live in the confidence of who we are. We go through life rewinding those tapes and hearing the negative comments which will leave us second-guessing every decision and opportunity as they come along.

In one chapter, we read of the powerful reminder of Gideon, who saw himself as “the weakest in the whole tribe of Manasseh, and I am the least in my entire family!” (Judges 6:15). Yet God was seeing Gideon through an entirely different lens. God set him forward to do great things based on the strength that God had already deposited into him.

And we are called to do the same.

“You Can Do This” is a book filled with wisdom and insights this author has learned through her own difficult journey. She shares with a genuineness as she tells of her joys, laughter, tears, and heartaches. She encourages us to see each and every challenge of our life as part of the glorious process God is working through our lives.

Each chapter includes questions for further reflection, or discussion should you decide to use this as a Bible Study. There are suggestions for prayer and for developing spiritual disciplines. By the end of the book, you will find yourself strengthened and encouraged.

But more so, you will find yourself clinging to the powerful truth that God is with you in every moment of your life.

He is not only with you, but He is at work in you to make the most of every moment, every challenge, and every opportunity.

In fact, He is the One who designed each one.
And all for your good, His purposes, and for His glory!
You. Can. Do. This!
