“Test everything. Hold onto the good. Avoid every kind of evil. May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful and he will do it.” (1 Thessalonians 5:21-24, NIV)
“Satan wants people of influence more than anyone. He’ll also do anything he can to shut down those who show the potential for influence …
We can take this to the spiritual bank: Christ never allows Satan a sieve unless the object could use a sift …
” … those fighting the daily battles on the front lines need a tremendous amount of prayer and accountability. It is hot out there, and many of us have been burned. This I will also say: Many of us got burned because we refused along the way to let God deal with our stuff. We allowed some areas of our lives to remain unsanctified and therefore uncovered, and the enemy knew just where to hit us.
Let’s all wise up!”
(Beth Moore, Voices of the Faithful compiled by Kim P. Davis, taken from pages 323-325)
Today I am joining … Open Sunday Thoughts and Spiritual Sundays and Scripture & a Snapshot and Sunday Scripture Blessings .
Create in my a clean heart o Lord and renew a right spirit within me. It’s hot everywhere. Sift away….there’s not one of us who doesn’t need it
Hold on to the good! This is my continual prayer. I just watched Hacksaw Ridge last night and this is exactly the same kind of unwavering faith I pray for myself and my family and the men and women all over the world who are trying to lead Christian lives without compromise.
What a gorgeous and timely challenge.
I think I need more of Beth Moore in my ears!
This is so true. We can give parts of our life over to God and believe that will be enough. However, the parts we keep for ourselves will continue to keep holding us back. They become our idols that we hold onto with begrudged hands. It is until we are willing to give those up too that we will be allowing God’s full protection. Thank you for the reminder today! God Bless!
This is so, so good!
Had never seen this quote. My first thought was I too could sift out what I need and don’t need of all that is happening and trying to influence in our world today. I need to sift out all others except the voice of God, and that will give me his peace. So true on some things no uncovered…I fear I have some of those that can be used against me, but am working on those. Great inspiration and reminder post. Thank you. Needed to read that one today as well as all the other blessings shared.
