“But no, my people wouldn’t listen. Israel did not want me around. So I let them follow their own stubborn desires, living according to their own ideas.” (Psalm 81: 11-12, NLT)
Ever make a wrong turn? You are following your GPS, but something goes wrong.
A wrong turn on the highway is frustrating but not nearly as hard to correct as veering off God’s path for your life. He stands ready to guide and support you, much like the GPS that you yell at, then turn off, setting it aside to follow your own ways, which leads you into an even worse mess.
You will most likely err now and then. When you do, just be quick to ask God to get you back on the right track. Then listen to Him, submit to His wisdom, even if you don’t see the logic in it. Because you do not want to be left to your own devices.
Prayer: God, keep me on Your path for my life. Teach me patience to follow Your ways even when the end isn’t in sight. Amen.

Today I am joining … Open Sunday Thoughts and Spiritual Sundays and Scripture & a Snapshot .
As much as it can hurt, I love that God lets us make mistakes – follow our own wrong paths but all the while is encouraging us, waiting for us, and still loving us.
We surely have an amazing God who gets us back on track in the best of ways while teaching us along the way.
I love reading these devotions on Sunday. Thank you for sharing them.
Debbie, I am glad they are speaking to you as well. They’ve been timely in my life.
Oh LORD teach me patience! I needed this today, Joanne!
Isn’t it something how we can be so impatient and desirous of the end result that we can miss the beauty on the way. I so appreciate you, Jamie.
I love this. It seems like it should be so easy to stay on God’s path. But it is not. The part I struggle the most with is not so much turning to the right way…even when it doesn’t make much sense I’m pretty good at following directions…it’s figuring out that I’m not on the right road. I go along pretty good and then slowly start to notice that things aren’t the way they should be. That’s when I know i need to get down on my knees and and ask God to show me the way. I’d love to be able to say that at 55 I’ve finally figured out how to read the map but I am still a sinner who is completely lost without Jesus directing me.
Joining you in this! I would also be completely lost without Him directing me. I am grateful for the many times He spared me going awry and making a mistake. All by His grace!
Love this! Pinned 🙂
You constantly encourage, Sarah!
