Each Friday my writing stems from a word prompt. Five minutes, one word prompt. The prompt this week is … One.
Hello Mornings began their Advent study this week with looking at the many sacrifices as explained in Leviticus. The sacrifices were for forgiveness of sins, and for worship, and for peace. Each one required the sacrifice of an unblemished animal. The loss of life. The blood poured out.
But no matter how many sacrifices were made, there was only another to be made.
Written in my notes from studying this week is this quote from Matthew Henry:
“God ordained diverse kinds of oblations and sacrifices … He declared by these sacrifices and ceremonies that the reward of sin is death and that without the blood of Christ, the innocent Lamb of God, there can be no forgiveness of sins.”
Only Jesus.
“For God’s will was for us to be made holy by the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ, once for all time.” (Hebrews 10:10, NLT)
He was the only sacrifice once for all time. Jesus cancelled the first covenant and ushered in the new covenant. Jesus – the only perfect and sufficient sacrifice.
Jesus – The One Lamb.
Once For All.
Today I am joining … Five Minute Friday and Faith On Fire and Fresh Market Friday and Faith ”˜N Friends .
FMF#16, thank you for the reminder that Jesus was the sacrificial lamb. We don’t usually think on this at Christmas.
Diane, I have begun to realize the very same thing. We focus on the baby and overlook the Lamb. May you have a blessed Thanksgiving!
The One.
The Only.
Once for all.

And let us all say, Amen!
One Jesus. That’s all we’ll ever need. Beautiful, Joanne!
The lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world!
The heart of the matter, explained with lucid brilliance. Great job, Joanne.
And now…what would one say happened to the moneychangers in the temple courtyard after Jesus got through with them?
They had been laminated. Geddit?
Yeah. Painful, that.
Andrew, I did get it – with a little help from our friend Susan 🙂
So thankful for His shed blood for me. The one and only sacrifice sufficient to cover my sins. Wonderful post!
