“But Lord,” Gideon replied, “how can I rescue Israel? My clan is the weakest in the whole tribe of Manasseh, and I am the least in my entire family!” (Judges 6:15, NLT)

“It’s often when you are faced with seemingly impossible tasks that you learn the most about yourself and God. At that moment when you feel you can’t go another step, or will never make it through the schedule of intense meetings, or cannot dig out from under the laundry pile, you find out, in fact, you can.

Gideon was staring at an impossible task. Now an angel had come to tell Gideon he was the man for the job.

The key was, Gideon just had to show up. That’s all God wanted. Even with the assurance from God, though, Gideon’s insecurity begged for a sign. But can you blame him? He was facing an army. That’s almost as bad as the laundry pile.

Prayer: Dear Lord, help me recognize that I don’t have to tackle my challenges all on my own. Amen.”
