Each Friday my writing stems from a word prompt. Five minutes, one word prompt. The prompt this week is … Offer.

The word prompts the question: “What can I offer?”

The psalmist asked the very same question:

“What can I offer the Lord for all he has done for me?”
(Psalm 116:12, NLT)

God needs nothing from me. As the Creator of all, He owns it all. The mere question brings the realization that I am a “debtor to grace”.

Recognizing all God has done, and the many blessings He has bestowed on our lives, should move us to offer ourselves up to Him, again and again.

What can I offer the Lord for all He has done for me?

  • My devotion to Him. “And so I walk in the Lord’s presence as I live here on earth!” (verse 9, NLT)
  • My praise. “I will lift up the cup of salvation and praise the Lord’s name for saving me” (verse 13).

“How Your kindness yet pursues me
How Your mercy never fails me
Till the day that death shall loose me
I will sing, oh I will sing”
(from Come Thou Fount (I Will Sing) by Chris Tomlin)
