Each Friday my writing stems from a word prompt. Five minutes, one word prompt. The prompt this week is … Start.

“Start” can be defined as the beginning of an activity or a journey.

The best part of the day for me is the start of it. The mornings are my favorite time because they are quiet and calm, the house is still. Even now, I hear an occasional car go by in the distance but there is hardly a sound.

And there is always the coffee, waiting for me when I come to the kitchen – all made and ready to be poured into my mug.

With my coffee, Bible, and devotional , I am ready to start my day. You might be asking, why start my day this way? Does my journey through the next twenty four hours benefit from starting this way?

Let me share some verses which helped me to start and maintain this habit:

  • “Satisfy us each morning with your unfailing love, so we may sing for joy to the end of our lives.” (Psalm 90:14, NLT)
  • “Let me hear of your unfailing love each morning, for I am trusting in you.”
    (Psalm 143:8, NLT)
  • “Morning by morning he wakens me and open my understanding to his will.”
    (Isaiah 50:4, NLT)
  • “Listen to my voice in the morning, Lord. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly.” (Psalm 5:3, NLT)

As I start my day in His Word,
I can trust Him
for the remainder of my day.
