Every Friday I join a community of bloggers for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt, five minutes. The prompt this week is … Direction.
Direction.
It’s going from here to there. It’s the way one is headed each day. We hope with each step that we are headed in the right direction.
With the start of the new year, we are determined to keep certain goals, or resolutions. We desire to maintain good habits and effect change in our lives. To do so, much like the prophet Isaiah, we must say:
“Because the Sovereign Lord helps me, I will not be disgraced. Therefore, I have set my face like a stone, determined to do his will.” (Isaiah 50:7, NLT)
With determination and the Lord’s help, we can head in the right direction and keep on the path He has set for us. And we run …
“And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.” (Hebrews 12:1b, NLT)
It’s my race and He alone sets the direction and pace. It’s personal to me as He has created each of us, and our races, unique to us. Our lives are on a trajectory, a path we follow not by chance, but by the guidance or actions of our God.
So how do we keep on in the direction He has set us on?
“We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith.” (Hebrews 12:2a, NLT)
With our eyes set on Jesus,
we head in the right direction,
and run!
Today I am joining … Five Minute Friday and Faith On Fire and Friendship Friday .
I don’t want my eyes on anyone or anything but HIM.
Love the Hebrews verse – oh my prayer is to run with endurance this year!! Have a wonderful weekend, Joanne. Looking forward to another year of FMF:)
I hope you’ll take this in the spirit of fun in which it’s written…right now I’ve got a fever passing 103 and am a little loopy.
I wander down the thin white line
(I waver when I try to stand),
feeling balanced and so fine
with a beer in either hand.
I never took to temperance;
it seemed to steal the fun
and offer no real relevance
when working in the desert sun.
So I’ll imbibe when I may,
but will not drive with a buzz
for it’s a lousy way to end the day,
meeting with the fuzz.
I figure God loves most the least,
the kids, the drunks, the birds and beasts.
Oh Andrew, yes (!) I can surely take this in the fun in which it is written. I may even have a few who “imbibe” and am so glad God loves them too!! Praying your fever breaks! And know, I am grateful for your sense of humor!
Running the race set before us…yes!
Praying that I can keep my eyes on Jesus too. “With our eyes set on Jesus, we head in the right direction, and run!” Amen.
