Every Friday I join a community of bloggers for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt, five minutes. The prompt this week is … Your.
Your … “a form of the possessive case of you used as an attributive adjective” (dictionary.com). With that definition now in mind, the question formed: What is it that I possess?
“Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone.” (Colossians 4:6, NLT)
“Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.”
(Proverbs 4:23, NLT)
“For God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.”
(1 Corinthians 6:20, NLT)
“[Let your] love be sincere (a real thing); hate what is evil [loathe all ungodliness, turn in horror from wickedness], but hold fast to that which is good.“ (Romans 12:9, AMPC)
“Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand.” (Philippians 4:5, NKJV)
We are to live our lives in such a way that the qualities we exude will draw other people to Him and bring glory and honor to God. In the climate culture of our world, this is the challenge before us today and every day, in all we say and do.
“Let your light so shine before men,
that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”
(Matthew 5:16, NKJV)
Today I am joining …
I love this. Praying for grace to live this way. I went a similar direction with the “your” prompt 🙂 FMF #3
You spoke my hear this morning, Joanne (but used far fewer words than I did!). Thank you!
Love this, and of course the challenge of our response to be a light because He is the light of the world! fmf#7
Proverbs 4.23 I think I quote that at least 5 times per week!
There’s nothing that is yours or mine,
possession is a fraud,
for if we hold spark of divine,
all things are of God.
There is nothing I can give
that was not given me;
to pass it on is, yes, to live
in pauper’s victory,
for if we hand along the grace
that was so freely given,
and let our souls reflect His face
then we cannot be riven
from the God who owns our heart,
and from who we’ll then not part.
Well said, Joanne. And what a challenge, to exude the qualities that are Christ-like in a world that often is anything but. But since Jesus has instructed us to do so, he will help us to do so! Thank you! Karen 🙂 (FMF #10)
Love this so much!! Visiting from FMF#23
I’m so pleased that we don’t have to try and exude light in our strength and that the Holy Spirit helps us along and keeps us on track. Great message. God bless fmf #27
