Every Friday I join a community of bloggers for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt, five minutes. Unedited. The prompt this week is … Enable.
The word brings to mind being helped. Enabled is defined as “to make able; give power, means, competence, or ability to; to make possible or easier” (dictionary.com).
There are challenges in life which demand more than we are capable of handling on our own.
We need ideas.
We need strength.
We need motivation.
We need knowledge.
Life demands wisdom beyond ourselves.
At those times, God comes alongside of us, filling us, and enabling us to do more than we ever thought possible.
“For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand, Who says to you, ‘Do not fear, I will help you.’ (Isaiah 41:13, NASB)
God,
the One who will help us,
Who will enable us to to do more than we are able.

Today I am joining …
I so appreciate you sharing this truth, Joanne, “Life demands wisdom beyond ourselves. At those times, God comes alongside of us, filling us, and enabling us to do more than we ever thought possible.” (FMF #16)
Enable is a word the spans the distance between what I can’t do on my own and all that I can do in Christ!
I love how you define the word!
He is The Great Enabler!
God, just keep me going, here,
for I am now upon my knees,
sick with pain, despair and fear;
dear Lord, I ask You, please
give me strength to face the days,
each worse, now, than the last,
and help me find whatever ways
there are to get me past
abyss that yawns before my feet
(I hear its siren call!),
with your strength I won’t retreat;
please help me give my all,
with nothing held back in reserve
that even now, I may still serve.
Joanne, I appreciate this emphasis on the good edifying, godly kind of enabling. We see so much of the bad, dangerous, unhealthy kind in our world these days.
Thank you, Linda, as your comment means a lot to me.
Amen!
Thanks for sharing.
