Every Friday I join a community of bloggers for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt, five minutes. Unedited. The prompt this week is … Remedy.
The prompt words always seem to fit in with one another, piggybacking in a way to bring thoughts together and making them more meaningful.
Last week word was broken. The words came easily as all we need to do is look around us, or watch the evening news, and we see the brokenness before our eyes.
In every aspect of life, there is much differing of opinions and thoughts, making us so disjointed and living with disunity.
What is the remedy?
As I sat in the stillness this morning asking myself that question before beginning to write, only one answer came to mind:
“I am giving you a new commandment, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, that you also love one another.” (John 13:34 (NASB)
Love – it is a commandment. It is not a feeling. It is not an option. It is a commandment and one we must obey.
May we remember that love began with God and was poured out onto the world, and each one of us. May we love with the very same love we have been shown – deeply, intentionally, and lavishly.
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life.” (John 3:16, NASB)
There is only one remedy – Love.
And love has a name – Jesus.

Today I am joining …
Our Remedy.
The thing that popped in my mind while reading this is that sometimes loving from afar is STILL loving. Love is from God. Thank you so much for the revelation. Deirdre FMF #3
There is but a single cure
to what divides our land,
and that’s to keep our motives pure
and try to understand
the bitterness built up in those
who were once our friends,
seeing past the angry pose
to where the heartstring bends
around a sharp and jagged rock
that’s self-placed within
by bigotry and angry talk,
the harbingers of sin,
and pray for them with all our might
to take our hands within Christ’s light.
Amen! Love wins!
Yes indeed Joanne. Love sure does have a name, and His name is Jesus. Amen and Amen.
Visiting today from FMF#5
Everything seems to come back to that–loving as Jesus did. Even if the feelings aren’t there, we need to make that choice.
Joanne, I love that our remedy to these times of differing opinons is love. Love is an action, a choice, and a verb. And it only comes from the lover of our soul. Great post!
