Every Friday I join a community of bloggers for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt, five minutes. Unedited. The prompt this week is … She.
She is a pronoun indicating a female, like in a woman.
She can be married or single.
She can have children or not.
This past year, I have seen many strong and brave women …
She has worked from home while helping her children with remote learning.
She has entertained toddlers with limited places to take them.
She has food shopped during hours to avoid people.
She has washed endless groceries.
She has shopped online to avoid going into stores.
She has used her imagination and creativity to make home the place everyone wanted to be.
She has undergone surgery, covid swabs, and medical procedures under trying times.
She has baked, done laundry, cleaned surfaces more than at any other time.
She has been a teacher, a friend, and an encourager.
She has been the introvert and some, the extrovert.
She has extended hospitality, and at times, been lonely.
She has struggled but maintained courage, hope, joy, and productivity while the odds were stacked against us all.
She knew the odds, and defied them.
She never gave up or gave in to circumstances, but leaned on God to rise up above them.
“But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her the product of her hands, And let her works praise her in the gates.” (Proverbs 31:30-31, NASB)
Or as worded wonderfully in The Message:
“The woman to be admired and praised
is the woman who lives in the Fear-of-God.
Give her everything she deserves!
    Adorn her life with praises!”
She.
beautiful tribute to women and the treasure of being His woman. hope you have a lovely mother’s day, joanne.
Much appreciated, Mariel!
You give wonderful praise to women and their varying life roles. Thank you for your words.
S-h-e’s a noble letter-set,
but it does gain teeth
with a bit more alphabet…
e-s-h to make it ‘sheesh!’,
and that, my friend, it is a word
applied to likes of me,
especially prone to be heard
when, in idiocy
I’ve tried to somersault from roofs,
just to say I can,
and in my landing offered proof
that the brightest light of man
is to ponder the suggestion
in wife’s cautionary question
I think women are quite incredible.
I so agree. In varying roles and most often in the most ordinary of days. Happy Mother’s Day!
Yes!!! SHE!! God created us for so much good!! Thanks for the reminder!! Deirdre FMF#2
What a great adaptation of Proverbs 31 to modern times.
So many women came to mind as I read this. So beautiful and a tribute to the way “she” contributes to so many lives of others.
Joanne, thank you for your blessed and kind tribute to us women. Beautiful insights and encouragement within. Blessings my friend.
