Every Friday I join a community of bloggers for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt, five minutes. Unedited. The prompt this week is … From.
As soon as I read the word prompt, they came to mind.
“From the rising of the sun to its setting, The name of the Lord is to be praised.”
(Psalm 113:3, NASB)
“Before the mountains were born, Or You gave birth to the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.” (Psalm 90:2, NASB)
“For from the rising of the sun even to its setting, My name will be great among the nations, and in every place incense is going to be offered to My name, and a grain offering that is pure; for My name will be great among the nations,” says the Lord of hosts.“ (Malachi 1:11, NASB)
“Even from eternity I am He, And there is none who can deliver out of My hand; I act and who can reverse it?” (Isaiah 43:13, NASB)
“From everlasting I was established, From the beginning, from the earliest times of the earth.” (Proverbs 8:23, NASB)
The word from is defined as a preposition “(used to specify a starting point in spatial movement)”. But it also means “(used to express removal or separation, as in space, time, or order)” (both definitions from disctionary.com).
These Scriptures remind us of who God is – eternal, everlasting, great, powerful, sovereign. And when we remember who He is, we remember to pray, to call on Him from wherever we find ourselves, for there is no place or situation that separates us from Him:
“From the end of the earth I call to You when my heart is faint; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” (Psalm 61:2, NASB)

Now that song is running through my head! THANK YOU, Joanne! You offer a much needed reminder. (Karen, FMF #13)
It’s amazing how an old song can come to mind from one simple word 🙂
From here unto the setting sun,
from there unto forever,
from now until my race is run,
I know that I will never
be separated from His love;
He thinks the world of me,
and nothing can prove that above
the Cross at Calvary.
So I go on, safe and secure,
and mess up often, that’s a fact,
but through it all, friend, I am sure
that I’ll come out intact,
for when He asked, “Will you be mine?”
I didn’t think ‘fore I said, “Fine.”
Amen, Andrew. We’ll come through this life safe and secure!
Psalm 113:3, is a wonderful verse to meditate on and Chris Tomlin’s song is wonderful. Thanks for the praise break!
This word prompt was a wonderful way for me to begin my day yesterday.
Sometimes noticing small words like “from” can be enlightening when seen over the scope of several scriptures. Thanks for pointing out that even the little words aren’t insignificant.
Lisa, It was interesting to me to note that the one word provided a starting and ending point – God.
Lovely! Thanks for the reminder that God is the ultimate FROM.
“…for there is no place or situation that separates us from Him”. Amen! Thank you for this reminder x
Love…Love…Love
How you tied the scripture together with the rest of the post and ended with one of my favorite worship songs. 🙌
