Every Friday I join a community of bloggers for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt, five minutes. Unedited. The prompt this week is … Complete.
“These things we write, so that our joy may be made complete.” (1 John 1:4, NASB)
These words were written by the apostle John, the last man standing of those who were eye witnesses to all Jesus had spoken and done.
John recorded everything, now preserved in God’s Word, for all who were yet to come to know and experience Christ in their lives.
These things have been written so that we would come to fully share in their joy and so, our joy would be complete as well.
John writes of joy although he witnesses the deaths of each of his companions in the faith.
John, the beloved disciple of Jesus, knew he was loved by Him. He remembered the words spoken by Jesus as He walked the earth:
“These things I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full.“ (John 15:11, NASB)
Complete, as defined in dictionary.com: “whole, entire, full.”
Our joy is full, and made complete, as we abide in Jesus.
“You’re the joy joy joy lighting my soul
The joy joy joy making me whole
Though I’m broken, I am running
Into Your arms of love
Into Your arm.”

Today I am joining …
The pain’s kept me awake all night,
and now I’m really beat,
but that’s OK and that’s all right,
and my joy is still complete
’cause I’ll still be a dancing man
when the sun comes up,
and if tomorrow it’s God’s plan
that I drink the cup,
well, my friend, I still have got
the beauty of this moment here,
and in its vastness I do not
find a single trace of fear,
for fear itself was pushed away
at the dawn of Easter Day.
So powerful and so true, Joanne, “Our joy is full, and made complete, as we abide in Jesus.”
Completely.
So beautiful, Joanne!! 🙂
Yes and Amen!
Amen Joanne, beautiful. Blessings.
