Every Friday I join a community of bloggers for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt, five minutes. Unedited. The prompt this week is … Easy.
We’ve been married a long time now and have gone through many challenges together. We always say the same thing when a new situation arises …
“If there is an easy and a hard way to go through this, get ready as it sure not going to be easy!”
Easy … free of pain or difficulty; conducive to comfort; requiring no effort or labor (definitions stem from looking at dictionary.com)
Life may not have been easy but God has surely been with us in all things. He has provided insight and understanding as it was needed.
Just thinking about the word “easy”, and looking back on God’s faithfulness, brings the gentle reminder of how to pray this morning:
“We do not know what to do, but our eyes are upon You.“ (2 Chronicles 20:12b)
For when our eyes are on Him, and we seek Him for wisdom and understanding, He brings the insight we need to move forward.
“A scoffer seeks Wisdom in vain [for his very attitude blinds and deafens him to it], but knowledge is easy to him who [being teachable] understands.” (Proverbs 14:6, AMPC)
Life is not always easy,
but may we always remain a teachable people.Â

Today I am joining …
There is danger that’s afoot
right out there in my backyard.
Don’t really want to face it but
I’m easy with it being hard.
I’d like to say it’s overblown,
but that’s not really true,
and the seeds that once were down
are coming back to me and you,
so we will have to go on out,
do the work needed before
‘midst the tumult and the shout,
and we must not ask for more
than the gumption not to fear
the monsters that are drawing near.
Yes, may we always be teachable!
“God as surely been with us…” Amen. So thankful for a good and faithful Heavenly Father!! Enjoyed your thoughts this morning, Joanne!
That is a very good one. Thanks for writing this.
“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” (Romans 8:28)
That verse from 2 Chronicles keeps coming up for me at the moment! It is a good reminder that, even when the things we face are not easy, we can turn to God, knowing that he will help us and direct us.
Yes, life is not easy, I like your reminder to keep our eyes on Jesus, thanks for sharing!
We can’t usually expect things to go the “easy way” but we’ve also learned that following God leads to a much easier way than doing it on our own! May we always be teachable and trust Him.

Anybody who’s been married longer than a week will know that marriage isn’t always going to be easy. 🙂 But as long as we remain teachable in any of our relationships, including with God, it can be worth it. Thanks, Joanne!
Yes, you are so right, we need to remain teachable! Thanks for sharing!
“when our eyes are on Him, and we seek Him for wisdom and understanding, He brings the insight we need to move forward” — so true.
