Every Friday I join a community of bloggers for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt, five minutes. Unedited. The prompt this week is … Spring.
In looking up the definitions of spring, there is no mention of the season. Yet here we are at the start of spring.
Spring … the time between winter and summer. We see the temperatures rise and getting warmer, the days get longer, and weather patterns change.
Stepping out into the rain recently, it had a different smell. Even the rain smelled like spring.
The time when new growth occurs as plants and trees come back to life. Leaves bud, appearing ever so slowly until one day, they are fully there.
Spring also breathes of hope. Hope not only of new growth, but of better days. Days that are not so harsh or bitter.
“But he also turns deserts into pools of water, the dry land into springs of water.“ (Psalm 107:35, NLT)
God – the one who can make a water spring up in the middle of a wilderness or dry land. This is the deliverance and provision He can make for His people.
He is the One who will care for the lowly, the oppressed, the needy. He is the One who will bring a harvest where none could have been expected. He is the One who will protect and grow families.
“Those who are wise will take all this to heart; they will see in our history the faithful love of the Lord.“ (Psalm 107:43, NLT)
May we be wise,
as we look back over the history of our lives,
and see the faithful love of our God.

Today I am joining …
Lovely, thank you for reminding us of God’s provision and deliverance!
I’m so thankful that spring breathes hope of better days, Joanne.
“But he also turns deserts into pools of water, the dry land into springs of water.” This verse reminds me of Israel today and a foreshadowing into heaven.
The sun is shining in the Lowcountry of SC. Rain has left the grass glistening. Thank You Lord for Your love and mercy.
I love what you did here Joanne with the word “spring”! A Truly refreshing post, lovely to read and savor, thank you!
Through all the long cold winter
I watched the neighbour’s trees
like a cautious vintner
looking for a vine-disease.
I watched for buds a-growing
that I knew could not be there,
but in too-early knowing
I gave myself a scare
that I would be outlasted
by the ice and frost,
that hope would be thus blasted
and the bitter cost
would make hope seem a distant dream…
but today there came flash of green!
Joanne, I used to think autumn was my favorite, but over time maybe spring has eased into first place. The longer days, the brighter sun, the new life springing up, lighter clothes, open windows.
Thank You, Lord. What blessings!
What a lovely message Joanne. I appreciate your insights and encouragement. Most of all I appreciate you. Blessings.
