Every Friday I join a community of bloggers for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt, five minutes. Unedited. The prompt this week is … Danger.
Danger is defined as “exposure to harm or injury; risk; peril; a cause of peril or menace” (dictionary.com).
It seems danger is all around us, sometimes lurking quietly and unseen, remaining undetected. We know danger is out there and lately we have been hearing of it more frequently.
Danger threatens families, children, churches, schools, workplaces, health, and finances. It is no respecter of people, governments, or countries.
It’s wise to take safety precautions and we all do, yet even these at times, seem to fall short. These verses came to mind in a conversation regarding the dangers around us and the anxiety filling hearts and minds.
“In peace I will both lie down and sleep, For You alone, O Lord, make me to dwell in safety.” (Psalm 4:8, NASB)
“He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.” (Psalm 121:3-4, NASB)Â
In the midst of the dangers which surround us,
we can sleep in safety becauseÂ
the One who is able to keep us safe will neither slumber or sleep.

Today I may be joining …
I’m so thankful our Lord watches over us and keeps us in perfect peace.
Me too, Bev!
Amen. He watches over us in every moment. I am thankful to be His child.
Absolutely. Even in danger, He is there.
Yes! We need the peace that only God can give us. I enjoyed reading your reminder for me to turn to Him when I become anxious.
Sleep is likely our most vulnerable state…and yet He watches over me, holding me safely in his hands… How Amazing and Wonderful!
I’m thankful for a good’s night rest. For sweet slumber that is possible no matter how heavy or anxious my heart might be. I love those verses..and the truth in them!
Danger lurks out on the hill,
danger wants to own my fear,
but I’m a view unto a kill,
and it had better not come here.
I got trained so very well,
many tools upon the shelf
that have served me very well,
like doin’ surg’ry on myself,
and so I will not hesitate
to meet the monsters at the door;
hate will be repaid in hate,
and I will say, “C’mon, send more!”,
for when the Good Lord calls the roll,
I am a berserker soul.
I actually did do a root canal on myself early Monday morning. Not fun, but effective, and needs must with no insurance.
I thank God for my training.
Were you a medic in the military?
So thankful for God’s peace and presence that keeps me even with danger all around.

I’m so thankful the Prince of Peace gives us a peace that passes all understanding, Joanne. ~Lisa, FMF #7
Joanne, I am thankful God watches over us at all times, I often pray Isiah 26:3-4 while falling asleep.
I love your graphic and pinned it. I am thankful God is our protector.
A verse I have been meditating on/trying to memorize this week is Philippians 4:4-7, and the part that resonates the most is The Lord is near. I love that He is near and He will give us peace and keep us safe.
I love the verses you shared here, Joanne! There is a lot of danger out there and I think the last couple of years have heightened our awareness of that, but it’s important not to get trapped in fear and to remember that we can find peace in God.
